I'm in a funky mood right now so please forgive the light hearted mood right now. I'm super psyched because I just got this amazing tee that sparks the funk! It's this new online store and brand by the name of 9Lines that I'm falling in love with. In this modern day world dominated by online apparel stores, 9Lines stands out for their ode to pop; literally. Their stuff pops out, is stand out material and is eye catching. So no wonder you see a few fashion celebs sporting their stuff. And considering I'm one of those fashion conscious people who want something not found in normal stores, I must say, 9Lines is fulfilling all my needs to stand out from the crowd.
Heavily influenced by the Pop culture, their stuff ranges from Lady Gaga notebooks to Audrey Hepburn bags and necklaces.
Their notebooks are a must have item, as a blogger/writer. For the old type who love scribbling down whatever comes to mind, or jotting down notes in class, their notebooks and diaries should be there in your bag and on your desk. Also, calling out all fashionistas, buy them. If you like stationary, this is your calling. Plus, it never hurts to have a few extra notebooks lying around. And notebooks as cool as these make really cool gifts. Also check out their desi pop notebook line. It's sure to add to your fashionable patriotic spirit.
Plus, they also have great iPad covers for the gadget conscious bloggers and gadget loving people (I'm looking at you Umair Mirza), so you can expect to stand out at all the blogger events. They've got your pop covered!
And then comes the t-shirts! Known as their Tease line, this collection features funky pieces one must have in their wardrobe. I got The Beatles tee and I'm loving it. Wear the mustard color with either red, or maroon trousers. Black is overrated, though it will do too. The rest of the tees were not to my taste, but were pretty good nonetheless.
Furthermore, they have amazing file covers. If I were still interning at Kuch Khaas, I'm sure the loads of pages I accidentally printed wrong would suit great there! They even have awesome posters to make statements in your room or apartment.
And then there's so much on the store, you just can't stop but drool when you open it up!
But apart from the store, their facebook page has posts that I love a lot. And the series that they started, of "We <3 (heart) Crazy Popstar Style" has me going gaga!
Ooh, and they're on instagram too. Follow them here.

From the Simon's fall 2013 look book.
The reason I like the look is that I'm very much into studs. The punk style is rocking the racks and the ramp alike. Plus, demin jackets are an all time fav.
Alexander McQueen revolutionized the Tartan. I have had it on my blanket since I was a baby, and I have always adored it. It is often easy to confuse Plaid with tartan, but the difference is not that much. Plaid is a garment, tartan is a pattern. That's it. Burberry's plaid pattern has been their historic symbol. SO in short, I think these two big names are responsible for revolutionizing the plaid, or tartan. The history can be discussed, but i won't. It's too complicated. Let's just say Tartan is more than just the plaid dull colors and can spice up your look. Not that there's anything wrong with plaid. I just see all brown when I think of plaid, and with Tartan, green, red and yellow are the colors that come to my mind!
Tartan/Plaid/Checkered. Yes. That's what's on our lingo. Whatever suits you, though.
So what's in store for you if you wanna go the tartan way? Well, you can go the simpler way, hang a rug on your wall that a Tartan print, or on the floor. Tartan adds a really classy look to your room, even if it's a blanket, like mine.
Then there's the usual way; a scarf! yes, if you know various ways to tie your scarf, then it can surely make your look better. A tartan scarf would go great with a black or brown button down sweater or a jacket. But make sure that's the only color in your dress/look that's popping color, else it would make your look look trashy and overdone. They're just found at almost every other shop you'd go to look for a scarf, even the small outdoor vendors selling cheap stuff have them!
You can wear Tartan shirts. They look really cool. But it's not for everyone. They're not meant to be work with your dress pants; they're meant for your jeans. You can find great tartan shirts from Gul Ahmed. Try the look with a simple white tee. It looks really good.
Ties. Yes, that's also a subtle way to add the tartan flavor to your wardrobe. Ties make a great look. Then again, they can break a look too. Make sure you don't over do it. Suits are supposed to look classy, not trashy. So make sure your tartan tie compliments your overall look.
Remember my post about rolled up pants? Well, Tartan socks can really loo great with your rolled up pants/trousers. Since it's a pattern, it HAS to look good. Also, the high length socks are so yesteryear. Try getting the ankle length ones.
Pants, trousers, yes! That's the most versatile of all the tartan ways to go. You can wear whatever you want for the top and make away with it. This look, though, is for the super fashion loving people. Not everyone can pull it off. You have to make sure your pants make you look classy, not as if you're in your pajamas!
Jackets/Coats/Blazers/Tuxedos. They look great. Though not for your office meetings, but it can look nice on a family reunion or a party. But fashionistas can work their way around this tough choice any day. Plus, you always have Burberry.
Shoes. We have the regular slippers from any other store that you can buy. They look great. Or if you can, then buy sneakers. They're available in tartan prints too. You can also find shoes. If you know someone who can get you, order Louboutins, else, it's gonna be a hard hard search here in Pakistan.
If you know any other way to wear your tartan in a cool way, do let me know. So what do you think, is Tartan for you or not? I seem to be enjoying it a lot though. You can very well see!

Instagram is the rage all over Pakistan right now. And the fashion forward community that Pakistan has, we have quite a few celebs on Instagram. It's fun to stalk celebs, and when you can't access their facebook profile, or the pics on them, Instagram makes it easy for you to follow celebs and that too in only picture form!
So here's my list of celebs whose profiles are too interesting to leave unnoticed and unfollowed; to be stalked, in short.
P.S. You can follow me on Instagram here @thatpakiblog
If you are on instagram, chances are you're probably following this cool dude with uber cool photos. They're so good, you'd wanna download and frame them (I just might to it, sorry, Tapu). Plus, his pictures from the past are worth stalking, with icons like Babra Sharif and Amna Haq from amazing fashion shoots. Also, his love for Karachi is very evident from his pictures, with pictures of the old city and the people that make the city. Fashion, life, fun; he's got it all covered.
Any one who knows fashion has just got to know who this beautiful lady is. She's one of the pioneering top fashion models of Pakistan that now lives in NYC with her kick ass designer husband Ammar Belal. If you find her tweets fun, then be sure to check out her ramblings from her daily life in picture form on Instagram. She's one of the most active celebrity on social media in this industry, and is always a delight to stalk (no creepiness intended). Also, her cat is super cute!
Now he's been labeled the king of paki couture. And we all know nobody can love HSY more than himself, and that's what makes his Instagram account a treat. NOT infested with selfies, his account chronicles his life as a designer as he flies across the world and goes on this amazing adventure that everyone associates with the life of a top fashionista. Yes, his life is enviable, and following him on Instagram is the closest us humble non designer people will ever get to it. But it's so fun, it's hard not to smile.
The quirky designer who we all love for his collections that leave us awestruck, his instagram is a depiction of his professional and personal life. He sure knows how to market through instagram, with pictures from his campaigns, but also from his daily life. We get to see him partying with all of our celebs in their non-paparazzi setting. It's a dip into the life of the "circus of Nomi Ansari's life" !
Annie Ali Khan
I remember her from her Aag tv days where she was VJ Jugnoo. I would religiously watch her show. Then she was a top model in her days as well, loved by almost every designer and all the photographers (and me!). But if you wonder where she went, then now you know. She's now living in NYC too and is a blogger/journalist, having had a complete story featured in Marie Claire. Why her instagram is cool is because she posts such cool photos, that they're hard to not be liked. She's also a very good instagrammer, and knows her filters. We get to see New York through her eyes and it's pretty interesting.
Ok, now this one is a must follow for all the menswear fanatics, even though there's a little bit of it in it, but it's there at least. Ammar Belal is known for his eccentric collections, and his style, so you will love how we see a lot of what he wears. And don't forget, his awesome life of a designer thriving to make it big in NYC (he's studying at The New School nowadays). We get to see a his life through his eyes, and it's enviable. It's a really classy profile, with really great, contemporary fashion (and lifestyle).
For all the fashion loving girls out there, this profile is a must follow. You get to peek inside the life of this highly adored Paki Fashionista. She posts a lot, so it makes sure you don't miss out on her OOTD (Outfit of the Day) themes posts and great accessories. She also seems to be obsessed with studs, like me. So I just HAVE to follow her, no?
Osman Khalid Butt
So he's the guy who's the new kid on the block, even though we all know he's not THAT old, we'd all just like to believe that. His posts have funny captions. And that is what makes them interesting. We all know him to be the hilarious guy who came out with the super hit Humsafar Parody, but you should also know that he appeared in the fashion film for Republic by Omar Farooq, and he has been trying his hand at modelling on and off (he was the Orlando Bloom look-a-like from the early Zong adverts).
This girl seems to be making waves everywhere she goes. She's winning hearts all over with her great fashion sensibility and her style. She has been dubbed the Älexa Chung of Pakistan and has been hinted to be our very own Cara Delevingne. Her instagram is a peek into the life of this starlet with her musings and lots of selfies (if you got it, flaunt it!). Her life is interesting and we see her grow everyday. Expect her to rise to stardom very quickly, AND gain lots of followers!
He's the man behind TONI&GUY Pakistan and the man is surely classy. The new father, posts really fun and cool pictures from his life. It's sure fun to be him, from BTS of photo shoots, and his trips to different places, his instagram is full of interesting pics. Now that he's got a really cute baby, expect lots of baby pictures. Not that we ever mind seeing more cute baby pictures, it just so...cute!
She's young, she's hip, and she's fun. Plus, she definitely knows how to flaunt it. her instagram is full of posts from her interesting life. She's a model, yes, but she's just another regular girl who likes to have fun with her friends, AND, just like any other girl, she likes taking selfies too! We also see appearances by other models and celebs in her pictures.
