Thoughts on Clothes for Eid and Eid Campaigns
Whenever it's eid, I always think I'll go buy new clothes and new shoes and stuff. But then I always go back to thinking that no, this isn't what I want. I am not doing it out of charity or anything, it's just that it feels absurd. It feels like i'm a part of a race in which the most cool outfit wins. I don't care. Or maybe i just like things simple on eid. Does it even really matter? It's been years since i bought something for Eid. I usually don't wear a lot of kurtas or qameezes irl and it gives me a chance to pull out the clothes I don't usually wear. So when I'm not gonna end up wearing something over and over, why buy it?
But, this is just my personal opinion. I think you guys should go for something cool this eid. Embellishments and embroideries are really a thing of the past. It's more about patterns and prints now.
Meanwhile here are a few of my fav shots of the Eid campaigns across the country. If you guys don't have a mentality like mine, then you can go for these. But even in these shoots you will notice how simple everything is. Is the whole normcore wave coming to Pakistan in the form of simple clothes?
I think Hasnain Lehri is being used in too many Eid campaigns. When it's the same top model in all the campaigns, it dulls the mood. IMO
The header image by Sania Maskatiya is the true embodiment of eid for me. I do get that others have to focus on clothes, but the high fashion feel of the advert is just beautiful. I HAD to share it.
