Reviewing Menswear at the PHBCW'18 + MY TOP PICKS!

I wanna just say how happy I am that this year there was a lot of menswear options to choose from at the Pantene Hum Bridal Couture Week. Well, not a lot, but more than usual. Which is great. Because I would usually not even bother earlier to even post about it because there was just so little to choose from!

But this year, I am actually liking the menswear lineup.

Lets start reviews plus my fav looks from the runway.

ARSALAN IQBAL

It was so refreshing to see Arsalan's work on the runway after a while. His groomswear is experimental, yet very wearable. If you look into how his work has evolved, you will see how his work deals with pushing the wearable art format to a culture that deals with this approach very skeptically, but this collection was artistic and extremely wearable. Like, not at all OTT.

AHSANS MENSWEAR

I don't know much about the label tbh but the collection was crisp, and the styling was impeccable. I think a good fit, and good accessorizing can elate even the most normal looking collections. Not to say the collection was normal, it was minimalist but in a very desi way? It was subtle in a very sub continentally masculine way.  I hope I make sense, haha. Nonetheless, a really eye catching collection and the shawls were just super gorgeous.

EMRAN RAJPUT

Very commercial and modern of a collection, it was nice. But I don't know. It's just so mundane. I expected more from Emran. That being said, it was a beautiful collection!

FAIZA SAQLAIN

Too heavy metal florals but I appreciate that she tried.

HSY

A collection that was dapper but poorly fitted. Sending models down the ramp in clothes that could have looked amazing, but instead they looked weird and boxy is a mistake I did not expect from HSY. His suits are the best, his shows are fun and the clothes are just amazing eye candy. But somehow, this was disappointing. It wasn't even a groomswear/bridal collection. I just wish this beautiful collection had a better fit. Bus.

MEHDI

Known for his intricate bridal wear, the menswear option presented were just as Mehdi as they could be. Detailed embroidery without being ott. Just the perfect balance!

MOHSIN NAVEED RANJHA

MNR has risen to good heights. I am happy for him. If you know his aesthetics, you would know he dabbles in colors. The work on the clothes was beautiful but something about the color sequence seemed...off? But, if you look at the clothes as separates, you can see their potential and their beauty.

MUNIB NAWAZ

FABULOUS! I loved the collection. Period.

ROYAL TAG

I think this is a high street label so it makes sense their collection would be catering to the norm. Crisp suits and a variety of prints. Not bad for a mainstream label tbh. I mean, knowing most of the grooms or groomsmen would shop there, it was a collection made for them.

ZIGGI MENSWEAR

Fun, eccentric and unorthodox. You can definitely expect all of that from Ziggi Menswear. I just love their modern embellished take on the sherwani. And the silk prints were just so beautiful! While its understandable that Ziggi Menswear is not for the regular desi man, it is not a label to be taken lightly because they're pushing the boundaries of modern desi groomswear and making clothes for the modern global guy who just happens to like sherwanis.
