Top Menswear Looks from Recent Fashion Weeks

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed that there isn't much menswear out there. I really need to dig into the why of menswear disappearing from the Pakistani ramp. I don't think it's the economy. Is it the Pakistani Man's fragile masculinity? Maybe.

Nonetheless, here are my top picks from the three fashion weeks held in the span on two months, where only 8 menswear-only designers showcased their work. And those designers who showed clothes targeted towards both genders. The reason I have taken out high street brands from this is because high street brands rarely think out of the box. For them, it is all about what sells. And what sells generally in the Pakistani mens fashion market, it is not enough to make me want to give space on my blog, unless its really really unique and makes me fall in love with it.

FASHION PAKISTAN WEEK

Amir Adnan

While the collection was all groomswear, it had more OTT moments than subtle nicer ones. I just wish the styling had been better, because the shawls were GORGEOUS, and deserved a better display.

Nauman Arfeen

His collection had a very nice message attached to it, and the experimentation is commendable, there were the following looks that felt whole. Again, I so wish the styling were better because it was a gorgeous collection and it really should have shone better. Nonetheless, loved the cool cuts and the jackets. Would definitely wear if I could afford haha!

PFDC SUNSILK FASHION WEEK

Rici Melion

An ode to mental illness, the collection embodied the various mental illnesses that plague our society. The silhouettes were well versed in the message they were trying to represent and the color scheme was also in sync with the message. The suits and the jackets were well tailored. But the accessories stole my heart. Specially the bag with the shattered glass on it.

Republic by Omar Farooq

You can very well tell now that Republic's young blood is finally throbbing through the veins of the label. The collection, titled Metaphor, was all about symbolism and the various signs and emblems that represent different meanings, carrying connotations attached to them through time. Extremely colorful and playful, the collection was a refreshing breath away from the suits and dapperism the brand is known for. Which makes me wonder and anticipate what's next from the label.

HUM SHOWCASE

Jazib Qamar

I have always admired Jazib Qamar's work for not conforming to gender norms. From sending models down the runway in frills, to showcasing funky shalwars, Jazib's collection was crazy, fun and definitely not for the light hearted. The colorful sherwani's would make for a great groomsmen wardrobe, if not the groom. Unless you're the kind of groom who doesn't conform to the standards of masculinity set by the society.

Munib Nawaz

A designer who loves to play with patterns and texture, Munib Nawaz's collection focused on distorting the details and creating some really strong pieces that stood out. I, for one, particularly admire the use of net/lace shirts on the models. Though I just wish the footwear was more in line with the collection. If I could get the pants though, I would. Cuz those patterns are beautiful!

 Deepak and Fahad

Their collection was fun, sharp, and colorful. The funky prints added to the meticulously cut suits gave the collection a very modern and playful vibe. Deepak and Fahad are the menswear designers for the new Instagram generation obsessed with moral integrity that can be shown off on the internet through a deep caption and a cool OOTD pic.

Emraan Rajput

All White. Risky. Also Meh. But had some super cool moments. Here are my top pics from the collection. Cool footwear and accessories though!

On a side note, I would also like to point out how Walid Siddiqui is that one model who managed to just embrace the outfits given to him, and how good he makes everything look.
