Demi Lovato DEMI Album Review

Demi Lovato has finally released her new album. And it’s pretty apparent that her celebrity status will rise even further after this and there’s more than the X Factor. She proves her vocal prowess along with proving to us why she is the best choice to be the young judge on the X Factor. She’s done an incredible job and I am loving the album. The album is a breath of fresh and pure pop in the present stale dance loaded scene. Hints of bubblegum pop from her Disney days are there but she has grown up into a woman and that is evident in this album. If Unbroken was her step into the grown up world, Demi is her way of telling us that she will always be true to herself.
The album opens up with the first single Heart Attack. The song has been reviewed already and it’s a totally addictive song.

The next track off the album, and her new-to-be-released single “Made in the USA” which is another pop song with catchy hooks. No wonder she chose it to be the next single – it’s innocent lyrics with a heavy dose of pop. Without the Love is Demi’s way of telling her guy that she’s gonna get over him as he’s acting weird and the relationship is dying; it’s a beautiful song that’s neither too mellow nor too upbeat and the heartache with frustration is visible (musically and lyrically). The sudden shift to the dance track Neon Lights shows us that she’s not only about relationships but she can let loose too and have fun.
As usual, Demi sings about a lost boy in Two Pieces, the story telling manner that is reminiscent of her first two albums. The track is an innocent love song, reminding how childhood friendships grow into love. If you’re a fan of the slow love songs with the piano and beautiful emotions, then Nightingale is the track for you.
This slow transition doesn’t end here. In Case is the next track which is a beautiful song about holding on to feelings of a lost love. Since it’s a trend to feature artists in songs or albums, Really Don’t Care is a fun song about dissing a guy she dated. It’s pretty obvious that Cher Lloyd’s played an important role in composing the track, considering she’s featured in it. Hints of Cher’s signature are there and her rap suits the song.
Fire Starter is a song that shows us Demi can belt out all kinds of notes and this is one of the best songs on the album. It’s fast paced and the lyrics blend well with it, showing Demi is growing stronger and is here to stay.
Something That We’re Not is a funny pop song that a lot girls might be able to relate to since it’s about a random guy chasing her.
Never Been Hurt looks like a song Demi might have done in her Sonny with a Chance days and decided to incorporate it in this album. This song stands out for all the wrong reasons. Seems like Demi decided to take the old route and add her previously unreleased songs in the end.
Shouldn’t Come Back sounds like her Here We Go Again days and Warrior is just another Skyscraper.
The ending to the album might be what Demi was aiming for, considering how she has faced a lot of trouble in the past, but it doesn’t do justice to a really good album. It brings it down. But Demi has outdone herself. This album is a pop music lover’s must have. She has proved her mettle and has matured as an artist. Her music is now not just for the teens or tweens but will appeal to everyone. It’s a big feat to accomplish and she is going in the right direction. She just needs to shed the sweetness a little more, not that I hate it. But it just keeps getting in the way. She can do better, much better. But this is pretty good too and just enough to keep us hooked.
