DEEPAK PERWANI - Everything But the Girl

If you go back and look at the history of menswear, you will be seeing Deepak Perwani's name a lot and look at the brand now and you'll see it has established itself as a prominent womenswear brand now. But what came as a shocker was the announcement that Deepak Perwani will now be showcasing an only menswear collection at the A/W Fashion Pakistan Week.

Deepak's big move back to menswear left me in awe of the creative genius of the man. The mens only move paid off very well. The collection was aptly titled Everything but the Girl featuring a good use of velvet and regal looking embroidery paired with jodhpurs and beautiful coats. It felt like a trip through the vintage sub-continent.

The embroidery is what caught my attention. It was intricately detailed collection that featured the handiwork in a beautiful story.

Imagine a royal Indian from the old days came through a time portal and landed into our time. If it were him taking charge of the clothing line, this is what we would get.Pictures

The use of velvet made the collection to be spot on with the trend for 2015, something you would definitely need in your wardrobe this year, so better turn to that.

Apart from that, silk made an impact. Silk shirts, in digital prints. The rooster print dominated here, which is sync with the whole "lets do this boys, it's our night tonight!" theme.

Another factor i liked a lot were the subtle grunge references. The studded pants and the dark hues that dominated the collection.

I think it was one of the finest menswear collection from Pakistan ever and Deepak totally should do more of menswear!

March on boys, march on!
