Winter Styling and Being Style Struck by Splash

So the winter's here and it's a season to layer up fashionably. It's only natural to go explore your options before going out to buy winter wardrobe items. Of course, one has to stay stylish throughout the year and winter is no exception. So when I saw the Splash winter collection from their fashion show, I knew it was a brand worth having an affair with. Here are the images off the runway.

So imagine my surprise when I was given an opportunity to style their winter "Style Struck" campaign here in Pakistan.

I was asked to create two looks of my own and two looks to style a fan picked out from the multitude of submissions received. And it was so much fun to have worked with my fan Hasan.

So the primary fall/winter '14-15 trends that I loved seeing at the Splash Store in Y Block DHA, Lahore were

Plaid/Checks

[caption id="attachment_5251" align="aligncenter" width="474"] Plaid is the pattern that every man must have in his wardrobe, so rejoice, it's the season to show off the plaid. While plaid seems dominant, it won't hurt to get a little in sync with the boxes and go for checks. These patterns would spice up your look, and are authentic winter spirit.[/caption]

Sweat Shirts

Sweatshirts and sweat pants are the must have items this year and worth the investment.[/caption]

Shearling

[caption id="attachment_5253" align="aligncenter" width="474"] Fur is the winter favorite. When fur is combined with a jacket, it's the perfect look for a night out at the bonfire with friends. Parkas look great with fur. Another way to go about is wearing shearling jackets. They look great, and add a comfortable and warm feeling to your look. Plus, they're so soft, how can you resist them?[/caption]

Quilted jackets

[caption id="attachment_5252" align="aligncenter" width="474"] Jackets are all the rage, duh. but quilted jackets are the textured look you need to complete a sophistication in your outfit. It's a texture that stands out and makes for great style.[/caption]

Long coats

[caption id="attachment_5249" align="aligncenter" width="474"] The cape is all the rage internationally, but lucky for us, we Pakistanis have our age old chaddar to get us through the winter in style. Draping a long coat is also one look one should try out when going out. It looks classy and speaks volumes about your ability to turn the basics into something cool.[/caption]

The looks that I chose to don myself with are as follows

[caption id="attachment_5280" align="aligncenter" width="474"] For me, it was about trying the whole Sweat trend. As much as I loved the shirt, the sweat pants seemed so much more cool. I paired the sweat pants with a varsity bomber and a basic tee.[/caption]

I think the collaboration between bloggers and big brands such as splash are an indication of a shift of the minds of the consumers and the powers that drive them. It has been an honor to be a part of the first-of-its-kind campaign in Pakistan with Splash being an innovator and pioneer.
