Vanity Men: Your One Stop Guide to Grooming*
Guys, men specially, don't go to the salons a lot. I know, it's considered weird and effeminate and what not, but come on, in this age of smart phones, who doesn't want to look good in their selfies? This is where Vanity Men Salon comes in.
Located in the hip area of Chaklala Scheme Three, this salon has been there since nine years, and they are very well known. So much so, that they were the official make up managers for Islamabad Fashion Week. You cannot have a more credible and experienced place to go to for all your grooming needs.
When you enter the salon, you get this really cool and edgy vibe. There's all sorts of magazines and artwork on the walls. Even the lamp is cool. But their grey wall with the small picture frames is something that caught my eye when I was checking out their facebook page. Because if you follow me on instagram, you would know that this is exactly the aesthetic i like. I had to check it out for the wall at least.
When I was looking around the place, the thing that really struck me was that the floors were really clean, and the salon looked spotless. As a dentist in the making, I understood why I was inclined so much towards the place; they had a sterilizer for all their instruments. If you get a haircut that hygienic, then what's not to like?
And their playlist was awesome! All my favorite songs were playing when I was getting my hair cut.
Coming to the haircut, I really liked that their stylist was invested in making me feel a part of the process. He took care of all the queries I had and he told me how haircuts are supposed to be done while looking at how the hair will grow back. It all needs to be symmetrical.
I asked him a couple of questions regarding hair care too. Regarding how often to get the hair trimmed, he said two weeks max is the waiting time. Otherwise a man looks like a mess. I also asked him how to take care of the hair in general. I was told that haircuts are an integral part of that. Besides that, oiling is good and all, but nowadays, you have the options of conditioners and moisturizers for your hair that can keep it in good condition. And with the metropolitan air like ours, it is better to go for products. When asked about the kind of products they use, I was told that they try to use all natural/organic products, but nothing rated bad. Which is how it should be, as chemicals tend to damage the hair if left on for a longer time. Coming for my haircut, here I am, mid haircut. After my haircut, I had the facial. Now, it was my first time ever having getting a facial, but I was satisfied by it all as it was a very hygienic place. I am very adamant about not applying any kind of stuff on my face, even moisturizer, but I had to try the facial, and let them take over cuz it was all clean and safe. I asked them if guys get facials a lot, and the answer surprised me. They actually do! And since weddings are always going on, most of the customers for facials are grooms-to-be. It was an interesting experience. I tried not to cry, but couldn't hold back the tears. I don't know how girls do that! So after getting the haircut and the facial, came the time for getting a photo shoot done to show you guys the results. Here are the pics of the end result.

They also have a women's section, which is the most famous salon in the area and worth checking out. Check out its facebook page here.
Also, Waqar Butt, one of the models I befriended backstage at PSFW has done their shoot. He modeled and his studio shot the whole thing.
Then there's Abdullah Qureshi too. I was lucky enough to style up his shoot too! Check out the hair.

I think that while there may be other salons one can turn to, but the fact that Vanity takes hygiene seriously and go to good measures to maintain a clean, safe experience for their customers, Vanity Men is one salon you should go to often, or try out for yourselves and see. They also have massage services available which I plan on utilizing in my exam days.
