PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week - Creating a Dream

As i come back from the meet and greet hosted by the PFDC at their Mall 1 store, I come back with a lot of information and questions answered. I talked to a lot of people and journalists in order to think through the things that I think about and I was thinking to share them with you as I gain more insight into the process of the fashion week by PFDC.

One thing i have always belived in, is the fact that creativity stumps everything. If you go through my blog, you will see me talking about creativity and innovation on numerous occasions. As I talked to Sara Shahid of Sublime of the creative selectivity of chosing the designer, Sara said that while innovation will always be there, and it is good to see new things on the ramp, the fact of the matter, at the end is that it all comes down to creating a collection that one can retail at the stores, and with creative collections it's very hard to come out with the retail end coming up to the mark.

One thing i asked her, considering I am a menswear blogger, is that why so few menswear designers. Sara said that it is only because menswear designers don't come up to submit to be approved to show at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week. So yeah, I think a lot of it comes down to consumer behavior effecting this attitude of the designers towards menswear, which is why menswear designers don't step up.

Another thing that i noticed, as all the exhausted PR people sat next to me all energetic and working tirelessly anyway, was that a lot of work goes into creating a show of just an hour or two per day. It takes months. Apart from the designers doing their part, the council has so much to look into. And it's hard. So yeah, PFDC is working  hard to keep the dream alive; to keep the illusion alive.

PFDC is doing a great job at helping the economy of the country, and I think besides fashion weeks helping the economy, they are democratizing the phenomenon that fashion is. Reaching the masses will be the end goal of everything. And that is just what is happening with PFDC.
