Top Menswear Picks from Lakme Fashion Week
I reviewed the men’s designers collections at Lakmé Fashion Week 2015 for Entouraaj and you can read it here. But here I present the collections i really like.
ANUJ BHUTANI
Anuj Bhutani’s menswear pieces were definitely something that left us wanting more. They featured long, loose topes and the grey windowpane pattern suit was my favourite look.
DHRUV KAPOOR
The menswear pieces by Dhruv Kapoor were a mix of simple and eclectic. The standout look was definitely the snakeskin pattern waistcoat with loose long shorts in black.
KANIKA GOYAL
Kanika Goyal’s menswear pieces majorly comprised of printed items. The white jacket with the geometric print on top was eye catching. The collection featured mainly pastel floral hues and the light colours and the strange patterns made for an interesting collection.
KUNAL ANIL TANNA
Kunal Anil Tanna’s collection took inspiration from the cherry blossom which were digitally printed on the shirts and suits. The suits were the best part of the collection, specially the bandhgala and biker jacket hybrid.
KUNAL RAWAL
Keeping most of his clothes eastern, Kunal Rawal’s collection was high on drama. Apart from the showstopping piece with a lot of work on Arjun Kapoor, the collection had a lot of banhgalas, kurtas and a few sherwanis with geometric patterns and prints. It was something fresh and took desi menswear to a cool new level.
MANISH BANSAL
Manish Bansal is one menswear designer to be excited about. His collection was all about minimalism and featured bright prints on a white and earthy fabric serving to contrast with them. The top look has got to be the one with the prints of symbols of different packs of cards on the jacket and shirt.
SABYASACHI
Taking us back in time, Sabyasachi showcased a collection full of nostalgia and freedom. The men, decked in floral sherwanis and kurtas in vibrant hues and prints made up major part of the menswear. But the two looks that stood out were the all-green and the all-sequined bandhgala jacket suits. Essentially a bridal wear/groomswear collection, the collection shows that menswear in the South Asian region is evolving and getting lively.
SAILEX
Sailex’s collection was the easy breezy collection one would expect to be worn in summer. Featuring the major trend of this S/S, the loose silhouettes featured cherry blossom prints on them. In light, earthy tones, the collection embodies the essence of cool and laid back vibe perfect for the summer.
RAGHAVENDRA RATHORE
If you were looking for something sharp and dapper, then Raghavendra Rathore’s collection featured all that and desi. With crisp suits, sherwanis and bandhgalas, the collection featured everything staple for the desi male. Sticking to darker tones, the collection had beautiful printed kurtas with intricate embroidery and geometric patterns.
