Reviewing Menswear at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week
Fahad Hussayn
Sticking to his original goth aesthetics, he brought out fun in dark by incorporating colorful prints. I specially adored the floral jacket with red flowers. While he stuck to his signature prints and patterns, I loved that he brought a very eccentric feel to goth, and that too on the Pakistani ramp.
Shubinak
Denim is my ultimate love and having the collection feature really hippie patchwork, the collection gave off a vibrant, 60's vibe that I think Almas' look captured perfectly; with the long lose hair and the lose clothing. It was an ode to freedom of expression, freedom of being, and freedom of creation.
Gul Ahmed
As mundane and sellable the collection was, i liked how they used the brooches with the shirts. And the coats were really good.
HSY for Ittehad
It was refreshing to see kurtas for men with just the right amount of embroidery in just the right places. And seeing HSY's signature design aesthetic made the kurtas fun. The sleeves, very unconventional, were obviously the best part of the menswear.
Al karam
Better. Likable.
Harmony by Hang Ten
Boring
Chinyere
Signature eastern menswear in light tones and nothing new to offer, it was a safe collection that was beautiful nonetheless.
Republic
Bringing Fawad Khan on the ramp might have put the collection into spotlight, but it was a good collection that amped things up with Fawad's star power. Republic's signature craftsmanship kept things fun and flowy. Floral prints, plaid highlights, and suede tees with coats and jackets, it was menswear with experimentation while keeping the silhouettes masculine.
Arsalan Iqbal
Sticking to the graffiti art from his previous collection, Arsalan brought the real funk on the ramp. The shoes being the standout point of the collection, the looks on the ramp themselves were all individual, as it was all about celebrating art. Quirky prints aside, the best part of the collection have got to be the quilted jacket and shorts, showing how far Arsalan has come as a designer.
Amir Adnan
Amir Adnan is the designer one goes to when one needs wedding wear. It looked a lot like a continuation of his previous show at TFPW15 but I have come to admit that that's what he does, and that's what he's good at. Plus, the shoes were to die for. All in all, it wasn't boring, and the silk kept things looking good. Oh, and there was this black embellished jacket that was just awesome!
HSY
HSY knows what he's good at, and that's exactly what he does. With a cohesive collection, the menswear pieces were visually pleasing sherwanis and kurtas that, as HSY told, would be all stocked at affordable pricing. And if you can get a collection and simply elegant as that for that much a price, it's just worth having!
